Chile backroads

03 Dec

From Hornopiren we drove up the coast looking for a side dirt road that appeared only on one map out of four we had. Turned out to be an amazing coastal trail, connecting fishing and clamming villages. 50 km in 4 hours, we had to stop every few minutes to take a photo look at the birds and houses, or to look for interesting sea shells.

Punta Tombo penguin colony

09 Nov

Largest colony in the world with 400,000 birds, we walked between them for 30 minutes in what seemed like 20 degrees below zero. The penguins were looking at us dressed up and thinking what are these humans doing here?

Whales, seals, penguins and guanacos, oh my…

08 Nov

After the incredible morning with the whales, we took off into the peninsula to see other wild animals. Driving on wet dirt roads, we stopped at several viewpoints. Elephant seals were fighting a 100 meters beneath us, and when we stopped at the Penguin site, i took out the 300mm lens only to found out i had to watch out not to step on them
